How Common Is Infertility
According to RESOLVE, 1 out of every 8 couples, or 12 percent of women, have trouble getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to term.
When should you see a doctor about infertility?
- if youre 35 or younger and youve been trying to get pregnant for a year
- if youre over age 35 and youve been trying for more than 6 months
If you know you have a health condition that affects your fertility, see your doctor sooner.
Can You Get Pregnant If The Guy Ejaculates Outside
As per studies, any fluid which comes out of the penis before ejaculation can have sperm- these sperm cells can be regarded as potentially fertile enough to cause pregnancy. It is proven that a significant proportion of men leak motile sperm in their pre-ejaculatory fluid. Hence, it increases the chances of pregnancy even if a man ejaculates outside the vagina.
Causes Of Male Infertility
Male infertility is a factor for about 8 percent of couples who are trying to conceive.
Causes of male infertility include:
- enlarged veins on the testicles, called varicocele
- abnormally shaped sperm
- injury to the testes that reduces sperm production
- heavy drinking, smoking, or drug use
- chemotherapy or radiation to treat cancer
- problems with the glands that produce the hormones needed to make sperm
- more rarely, genetic disorders such as Klinefelter syndrome

Can You Still Get Pregnant If The Sperm Comes Out
Yes, you can get pregnant even if the sperms come outside. This is because semen discharged during one single ejaculation can contain as high as 15 million sperm per millilitre. And only one sperm is required to fertilize the egg. So, even if the sperm comes outside, it’s highly likely there will be a bulk of candidates already swimming in to fertilize your egg which will definitely cause pregnancy.
Causes Of Female Infertility

Female infertility is a factor for about one-third of couples who are trying to conceive.
The most common cause is a problem with ovulation. If you dont ovulate, you wont release an egg to be fertilized.
Ovulation problems can be caused by:
- surgery for an ectopic pregnancy
A problem with the uterus can also make it harder to get pregnant. This may be due to an abnormal structure, or due to growths like fibroids.

Is There Any Way To Prevent Or Avoid Pre
Unfortunately, there is no way to stop precum, and the amount is determined by many factors. “The amount of pre-ejaculate fluid can vary depending on a man’s arousal level, hormonal status, hydration level, and medications,” says Dr. Hsieh. “The only way to avoid is through a barrier . People thought if a man urinates prior to sex, it can wash out the sperm from urethra, but this is unproven.”
However, if you choose to use the pull-out method, using another birth control methodlike spermicidal lubecan help reduce the risk of pregnancy, but it relies on proper use. “Anything is more effective than withdrawal alone,” says Dr. Creinin. “If you’re putting contraceptive gel in the vagina combined with withdrawal, you must follow the directions.” According to the CDC, spermicide is only 28 percent effective.
What To Remember About The Pull
Some things to keep in mind before trying the pull-out method include:
- It is not necessarily easy, and people should practice it with a condom.
- A person may be unable to control when they ejaculate, or they may not know when it happens.
- Pulling out does not prevent sexually transmitted infections.
- Tracking the menstrual cycle and avoiding sex during ovulation may increase the effectiveness.
- It is important to have a backup plan or emergency contraceptive.
Before trying the pull-out method, communication is key. If anyone is not confident that it will work, they should use another type of birth control.
Some people use both condoms and the pull-out method. This can help prevent sperm, including any in precum, from entering the vagina. It also helps prevent pregnancy, to a certain extent, if the condom breaks.
have approval from the Food and Drug Administation . They prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation or preventing fertilization.
Plan B is a well-known brand of morning after pill, but there are other brands. A pharmacist can describe the options, some of which may be cheaper.
Research shows that Plan B and ella are safe for emergency use, but it has not shown that they are safe to use regularly. Also, they may also interfere with other methods of birth control.
The recommends using emergency contraception after sex without birth control or if a person suspects that their method has not worked.
A person might take emergency contraception if they:

How Much Sperm Is Produced By A Healthy Male
Unlike women, who are born with a lifetime’s supply of eggs, men are not born with all of the sperm they will have in their lifetime. In fact, the average man produces 1,500 new sperm every minute.
Sperm are produced in the testicles and take 60 to 70 days to mature. Immature sperm that are not fully formed cannot fertilize an egg. A normal semen sample should contain at least 50 percent normal, mature sperm.
Semen needs a healthy concentration of sperm for optimal fertility. Fertile semen contains at least 20 million sperm per mL, with a total volume of at least 2 mL.
In other words, a healthy male should release at least 40 million sperm per ejaculation. Anything less than 15 million sperm per mL is considered a low sperm count, also known as oligozoospermia.
Sperm volume isn’t the only factor that matters for fertility. Quality is just as important as quantity. Of the sperm released in a typical ejaculation, at least 75% should be alive and viable, and at least 50% should be motile at least one hour after ejaculation, for the best odds of conception.
Early Signs Of Pregnancy
If you miss a period, take a pregnancy test to make sure that youâre not pregnant. Other signs include tiredness, bloating, having to pee a lot, moodiness, nausea, and tender, swollen breasts. Most pregnancy tests will be positive by the time you miss your first period, but if yours isnât, itâs still important to see your doctor if youâre more than a week or two late to rule out any other health conditions and to confirm that you arenât pregnant.

Selenium As An Antioxidant
Because selenium is an antioxidant, selenium could reduce the oxidative stress that becomes higher during pregnancy. This stress is caused by an increase in metabolic demand from the mother that is required for the production of energy. The high level of reactive oxygen that forms could lead to devastating effects on normal functions of the cell, especially on the development of the embryo.
Using Ovulation Predictor Kits
Ovulation predictor kits are available from chemists and are fairly simple to use. They work by detecting a hormone in your urine that increases when ovulation is about to take place.
The simplest urine kit tests for luteinising hormone , which increases 24-36 hours before ovulation. This will help to identify the best two days for conception, although a woman can be fertile for a day or so before and after this time.
It is best to become familiar with your usual menstrual cycle to help figure out when you should start testing. If you have an irregular cycle then an ovulation predictor kit can help you identify the time of ovulation but expect to use more of the test strips.

Watch For Early Pregnancy Symptoms
Each method has its own benefits and drawbacks. A method that may work for one person might not work for another. For that reason, its important to have an in-depth discussion about these options with your healthcare provider.
Condoms are effective forms of contraception and, like other barrier methods, they have the added benefit of protecting you against STIs.
- Always ensure the condom is the correct size.
- Make sure youre putting it on properly.
- Open the condom packaging carefully. Dont use your teeth or scissors.
- Use water-based lube. Oil-based lubes, such as Vaseline, can cause holes to form in a latex condom.
That said, its important to remember that no birth control method is 100 percent effective.
How Do The Egg And The Sperm Reach The Fallopian Tube

The journey of the egg, or ovum, through the fallopian tube and finally into the uterus after fertilization is extraordinarily hazardous. The womans tube is not simply a passive channel through which the egg is transferred many events must work in precise synchrony for successful pregnancy to occur.
There are, on the surface of the fimbria, microscopic hairs called cilia, which constantly beat in the direction of the uterus at a fantastically rapid speed and create a kind of conveyor-belt effect for moving the egg into the tube and toward the uterus.
The cilia work this magic by digging into the sticky gel, called the cumulus oophorus, that surrounds the egg, and they transport this whole sticky, gooey mass. The egg itself is invisible to the naked eye, but the gel that envelops it is easily visible. If this sticky substance were not present, and the egg were placed bare upon the surface of the fimbria, the beating of the cilia would never move the egg along. The cilia are only able to dig in and transport the egg with this sticky, gooey material encasing it.
While the egg is held in this location by the tight resistance of the narrow region of the tube, the much tinier sperm nonetheless must struggle through this area of resistance to arrive from the opposite direction.

When Does Fertilization Happen
Fertilization occurs when the egg and sperm meet in the fallopian tube. In order for this to happen, a woman must be in her fertile window. This means that shes nearing or has reached ovulation the moment each menstrual cycle when an egg releases from the ovary.
An egg can only be fertilized between 12 and 24 hours from when it is released. After that, it starts to break down, hormones shift, and eventually, a period starts the next cycle.
While it sounds like the chances of catching an egg are pretty slim, consider the numbers. Its estimated ejaculate contains up to 280 million sperm cells. And under ideal conditions, sperm actually live for several days once inside the reproductive tract.
Any unprotected sex you have within about 5 days of ovulation may leave enough sperm waiting and ready to fertilize. In other words, you may conceive after having sex nearly a week before ovulation if healthy sperm are already hanging out at their final destination.
On the flip side, conception can occur very soon after having sex as well. Experts say that the sperm can navigate the uterus and fallopian tubes to reach the egg as soon as 30 minutes after ejaculation.
Is There Sperm In Precum
The precum fluid itself does not contain sperm, but sperm can leak into it as it travels down the urethra, where residuals may be present from previous ejaculations, and can be released with precum prior to semen. “Normal semen fluid from ejaculation contains greater than 40 million motile sperms compared to pre-ejaculate fluid, which has anywhere from no sperm to less than 5 million swimmers,” says Dr. Hsieh.
One 2013 study done on sperm counts of precum in 27 men found that 41 percent of the men had sperm in their precum, 37 percent which was motile sperm, while a similar 2016 study on sperm count in precum found healthy sperm in about 17 percent of men.

How Do I Increase My Chances Of Getting Pregnant
One of the best ways to increase your chances of getting pregnant is knowing what days you ovulate , and planning vaginal sex or insemination around those days.
Everyone’s body is different, but ovulation usually happens about 14 days before your period starts. An egg lives for about 1 day after it’s released , and sperm can live in the body for about 6 days after sex. So people are usually fertile for around 7 days of every menstrual cycle: the 5 days before you ovulate, and the day you ovulate. You can also get pregnant a day or 2 after ovulation, but it’s less likely.
Some people have very regular cycles, and some people’s cycles vary from month to month. Many people track their menstrual cycles and other fertility signs to help them figure out when they’re ovulating. This is called fertility awareness some people use it to prevent pregnancy, and others use it to try to get pregnant.
You can use a fertility chart to keep track of your cycle and when you’re most fertile . There are apps that can make it easy to chart your cycle and figure out your fertile days.
You can also use ovulation predictor kits urine tests that tell you when you’re ovulating. You can buy ovulation predictor tests in the drugstore, usually near the pregnancy tests. Ovulation predictor tests look for a hormone called luteinizing hormone, which increases in your body right before you ovulate.

Clinical Importance Of Gnrh Release From The Brain For Ivf
Why is the fascinating relationship of a primitive region of the brain to the pituitary, the ovaries, and the testicles so important? It bears very heavily on how we can obtain the best-quality eggs from the female for IVF.
When the ovaries are stimulated to make more eggs by administering FSH , the tremendous increase in estrogen production over a normal level can cause an early increase in LH secretion. This may result in premature ovulation with complete loss of the eggs or, at best, may hurt the subsequent pregnancy rate resulting from those eggs.
In order to prevent this premature LH increase, we need to have a better understanding of GnRH, the hormone from the brain that allows the pituitary to release FSH and LH.
If GnRH were released constantly rather than at pulsatile intervals of ninety minutes, a peculiar reverse phenomenon would take place. The pituitary, rather than being stimulated to release FSH and LH, would become completely paralyzed after two to five days and would no longer secrete any FSH or LH until the constant release of GnRH was stopped and regular pulsatile ninety-minute secretion was resumed.
Thus, giving an injection of GnRH agonist once a day creates the same effect as infusing a constant level of GnRH all day long and giving the pituitary no rest. When you give the pituitary no rest, at first it pours out a lot of FSH and LH, but then several days later, the depleted pituitary can no longer release LH or FSH.
Can You Get Pregnant From Pre
Can you get pregnant if the guy pulls out before he “comes”? Ali*
Yes. You can definitely get pregnant even if the guy pulls out before he comes. Guys can leak a bit of sperm out of the penis before ejaculation. This is called pre-ejaculate . So even if a guy pulls out before he ejaculates, a girl can still become pregnant.Unlike during an orgasm, a guy can’t tell exactly when the pre-ejaculate is released.
Pulling out isn’t a reliable form of birth control. It also doesn’t protect against sexually transmitted diseases . So always use condoms every time you have sex, from start to finish.

Early Development Of The Fertilized Egg
Over the next three days the fertilized egg first divides into two, then four, then eight cells.
The first cleavage into two cells occurs sometime before thirty-eight hours after penetration by the sperm.
The second cleavage begins sometime between thirty-eight and forty-six hours after fertilization.
The third cleavage begins between fifty-one and sixty-two hours after fertilization. If any one of those cells were to be removed, the remaining ones would still continue to develop into a normal baby.
That is, each cell is still totipotent, and the remaining cells could develop into a completely normal human being. Each one of these early cells formed by the first three or four divisions of the fertilized egg is called a blastomere.
Finally, by the fourth day, the embryo has 64 to 160 cells and is called a morula. These cells have now compacted and are no longer totipotent. Its at this stage that the embryo is passed from the fallopian tube into the uterus. By the fifth or sixth day after fertilization, there are so many cells still packed into the same hard, tough zona pellucida that individual cells can no longer be recognized.
At this stage the embryo is called a blastocyst. On the sixth or seventh day after fertilization this blastocyst thins out a spot in the otherwise hardened shell of the zona pellucida and actually hatches, just like a chicken hatches from its shell in an incubator.
