Maintaining a healthy weight is an important part of pregnancy. Being overweight reduces your chances of getting pregnant because it may interfere with ovulation.

So if youre thinking about how to get pregnant quickly and naturally within two months, you might want to start a healthy exercise regimen that meets your weight goals and activity preferences.

What Are The Benefits To Having A Baby Later In Life

While people have traditionally had children in their 20s and 30s, many feel that there are some advantages to waiting or adding another child to the family years after youve had your first.

You may wish to travel, establish or advance your career, or become more comfortable with your own identity before initially starting a family. These are all popular reasons for putting off first-time parenthood.

Or, you may find a partner later in life and decide you want children together. Or and this is completely legit! you may not want kids when youre younger, and then change your mind.

When youre in your 40s and 50s, youre perhaps more likely to have the financial stability and flexibility that can make it easier to care for children. Youll also have more life experiences.

Having children with a large gap in their ages also has benefits that appeal to many families. A mix of older and younger children allows for the older ones to take a more active role in caring for a new little one.

And if you already have children when you get pregnant in your 40s or even 50s, youll love the joys of parenthood all over again and likely with less stress than the first time around!

While having a baby later in life can be easier in some respects, it may also be more difficult to conceive. Your pregnancy will also automatically be considered high risk.

Some of the risks of having babies in your 50s include:

Have Sex Often To Conceive

You can make love every day of the month in order to get pregnant, but experts say that it’s best to make love every two days during your fertile period. This increases the amount of sperm released during intercourse, especially if there is a low sperm count problem with the male partner. The most important aspect in how to get pregnant is to avoid old eggs and old sperm. Make sure you ovulate between day 12-16 of your cycle and that your luteal phase is at least 10-12 days long. Your chances of conceiving increase by having sex in the missionary position with the woman’s pelvis tilted upward toward the cervix by using a pillow. This position allows faster entry of the sperm through the cervix and into the uterus. It also helps if the woman has an orgasm at the same time as her partner.

During an orgasm, the cervix pulsates drown more sperm inside the reproductive tract. After sex, you should remain lying on her back for an additional 15-20 minutes. If you want to use natural gender selection you should know that sex timing is different when conceiving a boy than when conceiving a girl. To conceive a boy have sex close to ovulation and you the missionary position. To conceive a girl have sex several days before ovulation.

How Long Does It Usually Take To Conceive

If you and your partner are healthy and under the age of 35, you have about a 30 percent chance of conceiving in the first month of trying and an 80 percent chance in the first year.

Infertility isnt diagnosed until youve been trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for a full year. If youre under 35 and have been trying for a year, you may want to consider making an appointment with a fertility specialist. If youre 35 or older, youve got a little less time to work with, so make the appointment after six months.

Older couples may take longer to conceive because of age-related declines in the egg and sperm. When women reach menopause, they no longer release eggs for fertilization, making it almost impossible to conceive without medical intervention.

The decision to start a family is exciting and deeply personal, as each persons experience is unique. Contact your health care provider with any questions about conception, and reach out to your loved ones if youd like additional support.

Pregnant At 4: Can I Do That

Elizabeth CohenSTORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Doctors: Getting pregnant in late 40s or early 50s is not difficult, just use donor eggs
  • It’s highly unusual for a woman to get pregnant on her own after age 45
  • Older pregnancies can thrive, but there is greater risk of high blood pressure, diabetes

— This month, actress Kelly Preston announced that she was pregnant at the age of 47, prompting TV talk show discussions about the marvels of modern medicine that allowed Preston and her husband, actor John Travolta, to have a baby so late in life.

But 47 — that’s nothing. Compared with some other women, Preston’s practically a baby.

Last year, Dr. David Kreiner, a reproductive endocrinologist in New York, helped a woman have a baby at 54. Dr. Jamie Grifo, also in New York, recently helped a woman get pregnant at age 55.

Both doctors say these days, it’s not that difficult to get pregnant in your late 40s or early 50s — as long as you have two things: someone else’s eggs and at least $16,000 or so.

“Most women can get pregnant with donor eggs,” said Kreiner, the medical director of East Coast Fertility in Plainview, New York. “The only reason you wouldn’t be able to is if you have problems with your uterus, such as scarring or fibroids we can’t operate on. But only about 1 to 5 percent of women have those problems.”

So with donor eggs, could a woman get pregnant at, say, age 80?

“Theoretically, one would think there’s no age limit,” Kreiner said. “But it hasn’t been tested.”

Fertility In The Aging Female

A womans best reproductive years are in her 20s. Fertility gradually declines in the 30s, particularly after age 35. Each month that she tries, a healthy, fertile 30-year-old woman has a 20% chance of getting pregnant. That means that for every 100 fertile 30-year-old women trying to get pregnant in 1 cycle, 20 will be successful and the other 80 will have to try again. By age 40, a womans chance is less than 5% per cycle, so fewer than 5 out of every 100 women are expected to be successful each month.

Women do not remain fertile until menopause. The average age for menopause is 51, but most women become unable to have a successful pregnancy sometime in their mid-40s. These percentages are true for natural conception as well as conception using fertility treatment, including in vitro fertilization . Although stories in the news media may lead women and their partners to believe that they will be to able use fertility treatments such as IVF to get pregnant, a womans age affects the success rates of infertility treatments. The age-related loss of female fertility happens because both the quality and the quantity of eggs gradually decline.

This is the specific system I use when working with women on fertility, but it is also very useful for helping with PMS, cramping, fatigue, heavy periods, and other hormone-related problems. It is designed to address all issues that can contribute to infertility. Short of a physical inability to conceive, it will work.

Have Sex Every Other Day During The Fertile Window

Pregnant At 46 Years Old Naturally-After 2 Failed IVF’s!

The “fertile window” spans a six-day interval the five days prior to ovulation and the day of it, according to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Every month, a woman is most fertile on these days.

Many women are turning to new technology tools, such as fertility-tracking apps and websites, to help them keep tabs on when they may be more likely to conceive, but a 2020 review in the journal BMJ Sexual & Reproductive Health suggests that there is limited independent research on their accuracy. In a study published in 2016 in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology, scientists analyzed 50 popular fertility-tracking websites and apps with a hypothetical woman, and found that the results varied wildly, with many mistakenly tagging days outside of the fertility window, Live Science reported.

When a woman has identified that fertility window, should they have sex every day? Research has shown that there hasn’t been a big difference in pregnancy rates between couples who had sex every day during the “fertile window” compared with couples who did it every other day , Pavone said. “And having sex every other day might be easier for a couple to pull off,” she added.

But she said there are some water-based vaginal lubricants that can decrease the movement of sperm, so Pavone recommended using Pre-Seed rather than Astroglide or K-Y Jelly when lubrication is needed.

Tips For Improving Fertility

While genetic predisposition and age-related decline will have a significant impact on fertility, there are lifestyle changes women can make that may improve their chances of getting pregnant in their forties.

Emma Cannon is a fertility expert, registered acupuncturist and founder of the Emma Cannon Clinic. She believes simple lifestyle changes can have a big impact:

“Exercise, eat well and maintain a stable body weight obese women may have too much oestrogen due to too much body fat, which can contribute to fertility problems and low body fat can cause ovulation to stop. Abstain from alcohol whilst you’re trying for a baby, not just once you are pregnant. Cut out smoking way before you hit 40 – smoking accounts for 13% of the world’s infertility and ages you by 10 years in fertility terms.”

Cannon also recommends acupuncture, which has been shown to have a regulating effect on the body, improving pelvic blood flow and endometrial quality: “Research has shown it to be effective in improving IVF outcomes and stimulating ovulation in women who are not ovulating. I also recommend increasing your vitamin D intake which can help make the uterus more receptive.”

How I Got Pregnant Naturally At 47 Years Oldpart Two: Sovereignty

Welcome to part two of my series on how I managed to get pregnant at almost 50 years old

As I mentioned in the last article in this series, everyone is asking me what I did to make this work and obviously, I will never know for sure. It is up to the Great Mystery on how these things occur. But I want to offer is what I do know. In this series, Im sharing with you the sacred intimacy practices I was doing when I got pregnant this late in life. I believe that without them, this would have never happened for me.

In this article, I want to talk about Sovereignty.

Lets start with the dictionary definition

sov·er·eign·ty

noun

  • supreme power or authority.
  • how can we hope to wrest sovereignty away from the oligarchy and back to the people?
  • the authority of a state to govern itself or another state.
  • national sovereignty
  • a self-governing state.
  • The dictionary definition of sovereignty, as you see above, speaks to having supreme power or authority to having self-determination being in a self-governing state.

When it comes to my story of getting pregnant and this article I use this word I specifically to mean staying grounded in my own personal truth.

    Mastering others is strength.

    Mastering yourself is true power.

    Lao Tzu

Along my path, I was very careful to never, ever, ever buy into that belief.

So heres how this all played out

How To Get Pregnant If You Have Endometriosis

    Falling Pregnant At 50

Endometriosis is another common reproductive condition, affecting more than one in 10 women in the United States. It occurs when tissue found in the uterus grows in other parts of the body, such as the ovaries or fallopian tubes.

Even mild endometriosis can reduce fertility, while severe endometriosis can distort a woman’s pelvic anatomy and, for example, block her fallopian tubes, according to a 2015 study in The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of India.

It is still possible for a woman with endometriosis to become pregnant, and, once pregnant, the pregnancy is expected to be no different to that of a woman without endometriosis. Medical treatment through drugs does not improve fertility, according to Endometriosis UK, an endometriosis-focused charity. These medications involve regulating a person’s hormones, and can slow the growth of endometrial tissue and prevent new pieces from developing, said the Mayo Clinic. But because these drugs are based on hormones , they actively stop a woman from getting pregnant.

What If You Have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Polycystic ovarian syndrome , a hormonal disorder, is one of the most common reasons for female infertility. It affects between 6% and 12% of American women of reproductive age.

There is no single test to identify PCOS, but a doctor will determine if a woman fulfills two of the following three criteria, the CDC said:

    • Irregular periods or no periods, caused from lack of ovulation
    • Higher than normal levels of male hormones that may result in excess hair on the face and body, acne or thinning scalp hair
    • Multiple small cysts on the ovaries

It is not clear why some women develop this syndrome, although it is often diagnosed when they struggle to get pregnant.

There is a strong link between PCOS-related infertility and weight. About 40% to 60% of women with PCOS are overweight or obese, and healthy eating and exercise have been shown to improve reproductive problems in women with PCOS. A number of prescribed medications may also induce ovulation and regulate insulin levels, such as letrozoleand metformin. High levels of insulin push the pituitary gland to release large amounts of hormones that disrupt ovulation.

Doctors recommend in-vitro fertilization if other interventions have not worked, or as a primary treatment if monitoring, cost and accessibility are not issues.

Chances Of Getting Pregnant With Intrauterine Insemination

For many women, in vitro fertilization will likely not be their first treatment option. In fact, half of all treatment performed at Shady Grove Fertility is a more basic form of intervention called intrauterine insemination or IUI. The goal of this treatment is to increase the number of sperm that reach the Fallopian tubes and subsequently increases the chance of fertilization. IUI provides the sperm an advantage by giving it a head start, but still requires the sperm to reach and fertilize the egg on its own.
The goal of IUI treatment is to improve the rate of conception to that of the fertile population, or roughly 15 to 20 percent per attempt. Age, along with the cause of infertility, will ultimately determine what your chances of success are per cycle of IUI.

    Take A Prenatal Vitamin

Pavone recommends that women who are attempting to conceive start taking a prenatal vitamin even before becoming pregnant. This way, a woman can find one that’s more agreeable to her system and stay on it during pregnancy, she said.

Another possibility is to take a daily multivitamin, as long as it contains at least 400 micrograms per day of folic acid, a B vitamin that’s important for preventing birth defects in a baby’s brain and spine, Pavone said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urges women to take 400 mcg of folic acid every day for at least one month before getting pregnant, to help prevent birth defects.

Getting a head start on folic acid supplementation is a good idea because the neural tube develops into the brain and spine three to four weeks after conception occurs, before many women may realize they’re expecting.
