What To Do At 37 Weeks Pregnant

Weeks Pregnant: Things To Consider

PREGNANCY BELLY CAST!! (37 WEEKS PREGNANT)
  • There are a variety of different birthing positions and comfort measures that can help during labor and delivery. Some require equipment such as a birthing bed, chair, pool, or ball. Itâs a good idea to ask ahead of time whatâs available at your hospital or birth center. Also, try to keep an open mind once youâre in labor, you may find that what you actually find comfortable is different from what you expected to find comfortable.

How Can You Relieve The Pressure And Discomfort Youre Feeling Without Resorting To Medication Or Other Invasive Measures

There are a lot of things that you can do at home to make this more comfortable for you:

Pilllows using LOTS of pillows when you sleep will help support your body into a good nights rest. I recommend

  • A pillow between your legs to help support your hips
  • A pillow under your belly to support it

Often a good pregnancy or body pillow can do these things.

It really is going to seem like such a large amount of pillows but believe me, its worth it!

Take it Easy youre growing a human. Now isnt the time to make yourself even more uncomfortable by doing things that might make you hurt more.

Stay Hydrated Your uterus gets ornery when it isnt hydrated enough, and will uselessly contract to let you know. This isnt labor, its just being VERY uncomfortable.

Empty your bladder frequently Yup, with staying hydrated, make sure youre peeing frequently, holding your urine can make the pressure feel worse. Also, if this is all joined by burning when you pee or feeling like youre peeing more than even normal, you might want to get your urine checked for a bladder infection.

Weeks Pregnant Lifestyle And Diet

You may feel like its the last thing you want to do right now, but light exercise is still recommended, even at this very late stage of pregnancy. Grab your partner or a friend and head outside for a stroll around the block. Do light stretches, and maybe even some pregnancy-safe yoga as well.

Dont forget to drink water during pregnancy its one of the most important things you can do to keep you and baby happy and healthy. Drink plenty of water through the morning and afternoon, and ease up a bit in the evening to prevent too many middle-of-the-night bathroom visits.

Youre in the home stretch. Keep on eating the recommended foods to eat during pregnancy, and stay away from raw meat, raw eggs, raw fish, raw seafood, raw sprouts, smoked fish or meat, and soft cheeses. As soon as that baby is out, you can have all the sushi, pasta carbonara, and smoked salmon you want!

These helpful pregnancy nutrition tips are especially useful during these last few weeks:

  • Eat nutrient-dense foods and minimize consumption of simple carbohydrates.
  • Make sure youre getting enough calcium to help build your babys nervous system and bones.
  • Keep taking your prenatal vitamins which are essential for babys development.
  • Focus on eating lean meat and poultry and fatty fish for protein.
  • You should be getting 27 mg of iron per day.
  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of a few large meals.

The guessing game has started now. Everybody around you will have an opinion about when the baby will come. You may be feeling childbirth is imminent, but it could still be a few weeks away.

Your doctor will start examining your cervix at each antenatal visit to see if you are beginning to dilate. Your cervix needs to be thin and dilated a couple of centimeters before you can start labor.

If everything is okay, your doctor may let you go into labor on your own. However, if he or she feels that something is not right, they may induce labor.

If your baby is in the breech position, there is a chance that they may turn during these last weeks. However, if they dont, then there are chances that you will be booked in for a Cesarean section.

False Labor Pain Braxton Hicks Contractions

False labor pain is also known as Braxton Hicks contractions. When you experience false labor pain, you will feel sporadic contractions that relax the uterine muscles.

More specifically, the pain of false labor is like mild menstrual cramps or tightening in an area of the abdomen. Braxton Hicks contractions are irregular in duration and intensity.

The phenomenon also does not happen often, does not follow the rhythm, so it is difficult to predict. The phenomenon usually occurs in the last month of pregnancy, so many people mistakenly think this is a real labor contraction.

Currently, there is no research to find out the exact cause of false labor pain in pregnant women. However, it often occurs in subjects such as: Pregnant women are active, after sex, the bladder is full or dehydrated

Although it does not produce significant pain, it can potentially put stress on the fetus and increase the need for blood to reach the placenta to supply the fetus. Braxton Hicks contractions are normal during pregnancy. If there are no abnormal symptoms, pregnant women do not need to see a doctor.

Pregnancy Niggles In Week 37

As you come to the end of your pregnancy its very likely youll get some swelling in your fingers, feet and ankles, especially if its hot. Your blood volume, which increased with the demands of carrying and nutritionally supporting a baby, means that fluid seeps out of the blood vessels into the surrounding tissues and pools there for a while. Everything will be back to normal after your baby is born but until then you may need new shoes .

Its all usually nothing to worry about, although if you also have headaches and blurred vision these can be a sign of pre-eclampsia, which needs urgent treatment. So if your swelling has any other symptoms alongside it do see your doctor, pronto.

Fetal Movement At 38 Weeks Pregnant

Babies move up until birth but fetal movement definitely changes in the third trimester as your baby starts running out of room to bounce around.

A lot of the movement you feel at this stage is your baby stretching and wiggling in the confines of your uterus. These movements could be more subtle than youre used to, so you may have to pay more attention during kick count sessions.

Sometimes a babys movement decreases slightly right before labor no one knows why for sure. However, you shouldnt ignore a complete absence of movement you should still be able to feel baby move a few times an hour, at least. They just may be more subdued in the day or two before labor begins.

Oh So Bright: 37 (ish) Weeks Pregnant

When you are pregnant, the ligaments that hold your pelvis together get loose in order to prepare your body for delivery. When you shift your weight from one leg to the other, your body needs to be stable over your pelvis.

If you have a tight ligament, you may find it difficult to lift your leg off the ground. You may also find that you cant bend your knee at the knee joint. This is called a patellofemoral pain syndrome . If you suffer from this condition, its important to see your doctor as soon as possible.

Managing Swollen Feet & Ankles

While your body continues to stock up on blood and other fluids, your growing uterus may be slowing down your blood flow. This can all lead to swollen feet. Its very common and not dangerous. Here are a few ways to manage the symptoms:

  • Dont sit or stand for long periods. Take breaks often and take a brisk, brief walk to keep circulation and fluids moving.
  • Elevate your legs when possible. Sleep with your feet propped on a pillow to keep fluids from pooling in your lower body.
  • Lie on your side. Keep one or both knees bent. Use extra pillows for support.
  • Maintain regular exercise but be sure to check with your doctor before trying any new exercises.

Most women report feeling a lot of movement at this point, as the babys head begins to drop down into the pelvis in preparation for birth. What To Do This Week:

Feeling like you want to make your house into the perfect little home for your baby? Welcome to the nesting instinct! From scrubbing the grouting in your bathroom with a toothbrush to rearranging every item in your kitchen cupboard in size order, or even dismantling door handles so you can disinfect the screws when this instinct hits you, nothing will stand in your way. Not even a bewildered partner. Essentially, its a primal need to prepare a nest for the new baby and organise your world.

Although of course, its not harmful to spend your days cleaning , there are some things you should be aware of first. If youve got the urge to redecorate, then stay away from oil-based paints, old paint that may contain lead and some latex paints that contain mercury. Most water-based ones can be used but always check the label and wear protective clothes or gloves. Fancy disinfecting your house top to bottom? Check the safety of the products youre using. For example, avoid oven cleaners and dry cleaning products, and never mix ammonia with chlorine-based products like bleach, as the combination produces toxic fumes.
