Benefits Of Lash Tinting During Pregnancy

The TRUTH about LASH SERUMS (GrandeLASH, RevitaLASH, Lash Boost)| Dr Dray

The benefits of lash tinting are that you get darker, more defined lashes with limited upkeep. Additionally, research suggests beauty care treatments can promote positive mental health for people who have experienced health-related changes in appearance. This possible boost to self-esteem and general outlook may be particularly salient for many as the body and emotions go through rapid and sometimes challenging changes while expecting.

While there are benefits to lash tinting and many experts give their blessing during pregnancy, some do not. You’ll need to consider your own comfort level with the procedure and discuss it with your doctor to determine your personal risk, advises Dr. Andreoli.

Also, note that many of these risks are related to unknowns rather than known risks. Substantial research simply has not been done on lash tinting, and certainly not during pregnancy, to definitively determine if lash tinting with semi-permanent dye can be harmful when proper safety precautions are used.

Furthermore, the FDA does not step to study the safety of beauty treatments unless problems are reported. Note that while they have advised against using permanent dye for lash tinting, they have not done so for semi-permanent dyes.

If you plan to do lash tinting during pregnancy, there are multiple safety precautions to follow.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in California, claims customers in multiple states have suffered “change in iris color, eyelid drooping, itchy eyes, eye/lid discoloration, thinning and loss of eyelashes/loss of eyelash hair, eye sensitivity, eye infections, and vision impairment.”

Does anyone know if this is safe to use during pregnancy?

I wouldnt use personally because it has keratin in it, but you can always ask your doctor.

Ive been using it. I dont see why it wouldnt be safe..

Personally, I stopped using it during pregnancy but I don’t think it is a problem if you do use it. RF gives an umbrella comment to ask your MD about all products while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The only products for sure you can’t use are ones with Retinol. Lash boost does have prostaglandins in it but it shouldn’t be enough to actually effect you. Technically human sperm has the highest amount of prostaglandins in it naturally and doctors don’t limit sex due to it. I have several friends that use it during pregnancy without any negative side effects.

I stopped using it before I got pregnant because the chemicals in it are so bad. I definitely wouldnt use it during pregnancy.

    Its not safe, unfortunately.

I stopped using my lash enhancer once I found out I was pregnant. Miss it baaaad though! Even considered extensions. Anyway, Ive dropped that idea for now & Im just trying to chill. Ill go back to being hot in another yearlol!!

I just got extensions! Worth it!!i found a girl who does it for very affordable! Will probably keep them until baby is here so I feel a little more normal

    Lying On Back Pregnancy

Something you maybe wouldnt think to consider is the position your clients are in during the lash application process. Typically, clients lay flat on their back as you apply the extensions – and herein lies the problem.

Pregnant women are advised against lying flat on their backs once they are past the 20 week mark – i.e. about midway through the second trimester. If your client is still in the early stages of pregnancy, there should be no real issue or risk involved in continuing to apply their lashes as you normally would.

However, when theyre a little further along in their pregnancy, there are some steps you can take you ensure theyre both as comfortable as possible and arent placing their baby at risk:

    • Put your lash bed at an incline
    • Provide a pillow for them to place beneath their legs for comfort
    • Allow a couple of breaks during the application process, this could simply be a matter of allowing your client to stand up and move around the room for a few minutes/sit upright on a chair between applying extensions to each eye

Taking these few additional measures to help support your client can really make the difference between a good and a great client experience.

So there we have it! While its impossible to answer either yes or no to the question are lash extensions safe during pregnancy?, we know there are ways you can reduce the risks involved and that many women do continue to get their lashes done throughout pregnancy with no problems at all!
