Thedoctor will look at your medical history and perform a physical before they proceed. Afterwards, the doctor will apply a painkiller to the side of your arm. The painkiller allows the doctor to numb the area in order to make the insertion.It only takes a few minutesfor the insertion.
After it is implanted, make sure you inform every healthcare professional you see after the insertion. Effectiveness lasts for 3years but the implant can be removed at any time. The removal process is similar to the insertion and is not a long procedure. Once the insertion is removed, you can become pregnant right away.

How Quickly Does The Contraceptive Implant Work
If an implant is put in during the first five days of your period, you are protected against pregnancy immediately.
If an implant is put in at any other time during your cycle, you are not protected until seven days have passed. You will need to use additional contraception if you wish to be sexually active during this time.
You should only have an implant put in if it is certain that you are not already pregnant.

- If you have Nexplanon inserted after the above time you will need to use a barrier method until 7 days after insertion, and if unprotected intercourse has already occurred, pregnancy should be excluded.

Hello there is in need of help i am on the implant and the other day me and my partner had an accident the condom split i have been to a pharmacy for help and the lady there was very helpful but i am a worried nutter as iv been reading on here about the implants chat and i seen some signs on most that i have had recently but i am on medication for my eye and the stage of where peeing alot came up a lot in the chats but my tablets i am on has have the same signs in the leaflet so i don’t know if its my implant or tablets i have been to doctors and been giving info of what to do to strength my bladder but recently my period on this implant was heavy and i don’t normally have a period like that but i am more worried that can u get pregnant on the implant what are the signs to look out for as one sign is being big in weight the size can affect as i am in sizes 16-18 in clothes that’s whats been bugging me :
