Dexilant will start working within a few days. In a clinical study, 38% of people were heartburn-free after taking Dexilant for 3 days.

Dont stop taking Dexilant if your symptoms dont improve immediately. It could take 1 to 2 weeks for your symptoms to be relieved. Dont stop taking Dexilant unless your doctor tells you to.

Talk with your doctor if your symptoms havent improved after 2 weeks of treatment. They can determine if you need to increase your dosage or switch to a different medication.

What Other Information Should I Know

Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory. Your doctor may order certain laboratory tests before and during your treatment, especially if you have severe diarrhea.

Before having any laboratory test, tell your doctor and the laboratory personnel that you are taking dexlansoprazole.

Do not let anyone else take your medication. Ask your pharmacist any questions you have about refilling your prescription.

It is important for you to keep a written list of all of the prescription and nonprescription medicines you are taking, as well as any products such as vitamins, minerals, or other dietary supplements. You should bring this list with you each time you visit a doctor or if you are admitted to a hospital. It is also important information to carry with you in case of emergencies.

Common Questions About Gaviscon

Gaviscon is a type of medicine called a reflux suppressant.

Reflux is when stomach acid travels up your food pipe and gives you a burning feeling in your chest.

Reflux suppressants like Gaviscon contain alginic acid which is made from seaweed. Alginic acid makes a protective foam layer that floats on top of the contents of your stomach. This stops stomach acid escaping into your food pipe.

Gaviscon also contains an antacid that neutralises stomach acid and reduces pain and discomfort.

You should start to feel better soon after taking a dose of Gaviscon. The effect of 1 dose should last for around 4 hours.

If you buy Gaviscon, rather than having it prescribed by a doctor, and you do not feel better after taking it for 7 days, tell your doctor. They may want to do tests or try a different medicine.

Gaviscon does not usually cause problems when you take it for a long time. Tell your doctor if you need to take it regularly for more than a week.

Yes, Acidex and Peptac are similar to Gaviscon.

These medicines are reflux suppressants. They work in the same way as Gaviscon, by reducing acid in your stomach and preventing excess acid escaping into your food pipe. They generally work as well as Gaviscon and have similar side effects. However, they may be given in different doses to Gaviscon.

There are a number of different medicines for indigestion and heartburn.

Doctors can only prescribe some kinds of Gaviscon, not the full range available from pharmacies and supermarkets.

Prevacid To Prevent Preterm Birth

DEXILANT 60MG 28CAP

The researchers looked at which genes were up- or downregulated in the blood cells of women who had a spontaneous preterm birth. That helped them identify a gene expression signature.

Then they searched for the opposite signature in cells that had been exposed to 1,309 different drugs. They believed that a drug that could correct the effects that preterm birth had on the womens blood cells may also be able to prevent preterm birth.

They whittled the list down to 13 drugs that werent found to have pregnancy risks in human or animal trials.

Next, they ranked the medications to develop what they called a reversal score. The reversal score was a measure of the extent that the drugs could reverse the gene expression associated with preterm birth.

The other drugs identified included progesterone, which is used to treat recurrent spontaneous preterm birth, and folic acid, which can prevent birth defects.

Three antibiotics, and an antifungal, an antidepressant, an antidiabetic, and a blood pressure medication were also on the list.

The team chose to further test lansoprazole due to its high reversal score and the fact that its available OTC. They knew it affected a stress-response protein heme oxygenase-1 that has been linked with pregnancy disorders.

To better understand that link, the scientists gave pregnant mice a bacterial component to induce inflammation, which causes some fetuses to die in utero.

Dexilant Lawsuit Likely To Blame Manufacturer For Lack Of Warnings

So far, no warnings exist on the product label to help increase awareness about potential Dexilant birth defects or Dexilant heart defects. Meanwhile, many mothers suffer from severe heartburn during pregnancy, and remain unaware of the risks when taking PPI drugs like Dexilant to treat the condition.

A potential Dexilant lawsuit would likely blame manufacturer Takeda Pharmaceuticals for failing to conduct adequate studies to determine the safety of the drug, and for failing to warn physicians and patients of the potential risks for Dexilant birth defects.
