Why Am I Not Getting Pregnant If Everything Is Normal

Try The Bruce Lee Method

Why am I not getting pregnant when all my fertility tests are normal

Bruce Lees method of dealing with fear has a lot to do with the visuals. He said something similar to write the worry or fear down on a piece of paper. And, then set it to fire and watch your fears become smoke and mirrors. He had a point. Franklin D. Roosevelt said much the same thing about fear.

You’re Freaking Out About Conception

You probably have at least one friend who, upon conceiving, said, “It happened right when I stopped worrying about it.” It’s annoying to hear, especially when you’re not getting pregnant yourselfbut it’s often true. Stress can be a major party crasher in the baby-making process. When you have an elevated level of cortisol, a stress hormone, it can negatively affect ovulation and fertility.

“Calm down, relax, let it happen,” Dr. Curtis says. “Stop trying to plan pregnancy so much.” Instead, he suggests reminding yourself that pregnancy is a miracle that actually happens very often. “I tell my patients who are actively trying to simply stop ‘trying’ so hard, and that’s usually when they will conceive.”

You’re Blaming Yourself For Not Getting Pregnant

People tend to blame the woman for infertility. But in fact, Dr. Curtis says, cases of infertility are about 40 percent male-related, 40 percent female, and 20 percent a combination of both partners. “Frequently, the would-be mom rushes in to see her doctor at the first sign of a delay in getting pregnant. This is wrong, since it’s really an even playing field in terms of diagnoses.” And remember: It usually takes a healthy couple between 6 months and 1 year to conceive.

Umbilical Cord Wrapped Around The Neck

Youve probably had an ultrasound where the umbilical cord may have been wrapped around your babys neck. You may be worried that the baby could be strangled in there and not able to breathe.

The good news is that when a baby is in the womb, they dont breathe through their nose and mouth like we do. Theyre not getting oxygen through their mouth and nose, but rather the umbilical cord, so theres no oxygen supply to be cut off.

So if youre thinking about how something wrapped around our neck would strangle us, it just cant happen that way for a fetus.

Since the baby is moving around so much while floating around in your belly, it could get wrapped several times through out pregnancy, but its nothing to worry about. However, if the baby is delivered with the cord around his neck when he has to let out that first breath, oxygen could be deprived.

If this were to happen, your doctor would cut it off so quickly that it shouldnt even have any effect on your baby. If youre interested in reading more about the nuchal cord, click here.

After months of negative pregnancy results, the couple was slowly losing hope. Trying for 8 months now, it was becoming difficult for them to visit their friends who had children.

On recommendation from close friends, the couple decided to approach Dr Priti Arora Dhamija, Infertility Specialist at Sitaram Bhartia Hospital in South Delhi.

Dr Priti listened to their predicament and took a detailed medical history. She also asked them about their lifestyle, working hours and whether they were able to spend enough time with each other.

After answering the questions, Radha hesitantly asked the doctor, Why am I not getting pregnant? Is it normal not to conceive straight away?

The doctor calmed her down and answered, Even a healthy couple takes up to one year to conceive, so dont let unsuccessful attempts discourage you.

Is My Baby Breech Or In The Right Position

You dont have to worry about the position of your baby until about 34-36 weeks. You may go to an appointment at 26 or 30 weeks where theyll tell you that your babys head is up and not in the correct position, but there is still so much time for it to turn! The baby naturally wants to be in the head down position.

Gravity and the natural process of pregnancy will take your baby into this position with 97% of full term deliveries. So your chances are very high for your baby to get into the proper position, however there is always that exception. If you get closer to delivery and the baby hasnt turned, you can try some of these activities to help.

How Does Clomid Affect An Ovulation Predictor Kit

Some women take Clomid and use ovulation predictor kits to time intercourse with ovulation. Many doctors will monitor you using ultrasound equipment and blood work to tell you the best time to try to conceive.

Why not Getting Pregnant when everything is Normal | All Reports normal but no Conceiving

Below are the basic questions that a doctor will generally ask women who cant get pregnant. If you decide to see a doctor to determine why youre having trouble conceiving a baby, he or she will take a more detailed medical history from you and your partner. The doctor may perform a physical examination for both of you, to determine if there are any quick ways to figure out why you cant get pregnant. The doctor will also ask about your sexual intercourse habits as a couple today and any past history of sexually transmitted diseases, surgeries, or illnesses.

Answer yes or no to the following questions:

  • Are you having irregular, short or long periods?
  • Do you bleed between your periods?
  • Are you overweight ?
  • Are you underweight ?
  • Do you exercise excessively?
  • Have you ever had thyroid problems?
  • Have you stopped having periods?
  • If you answer yes to three or more of those questions, the reason you cant get pregnant may be more clear than you think. For example, if you dont have periods or if you are excessively overweight or underweight, then it will be more difficult for your body to conceive a baby.

What Does It Mean When You Have A Missed Menstrual Period On Clomid And A Negative Pregnancy Test

If you take Clomid and your menstrual period has not come when you expected, then do a pregnancy test. A repeatedly negative pregnancy test after a missed period and Clomid usually means that you did not ovulate, Clomid did not work, and you are not pregnant. Here are three possible scenarios:

  • You ovulate and did NOT get pregnant: Your menstrual period will arrive about 14 days after the day of ovulation.
  • You ovulate and did get pregnant. Your menstrual bleeding, your period will not arrive 15+ days after the day of ovulation. Do a pregnancy test.
  • You did NOT ovulate. If you don’t ovulate then you will usually not bleed, you may not get any bleeding or it will be irregular. You may bleed or spot irregularly but it’s not a menstrual period.

    Premature & Early Menopause

    Premature menopause

Premature menopause is when the final period occurs before a woman is 40. The reason for premature menopause may be because:

    • your periods stopped spontaneously but early
    • you have had surgery to remove both ovaries
    • chemotherapy has caused ovaries to fail

    Early menopause

Early menopause is when the final period occurs before a woman is 45. Again the reasons may be spontaneous, surgical or chemical.

    Effect on fertility

With premature and early menopause, the ovaries run out of eggs earlier than expected and they are unable to produce an egg or the hormones required for pregnancy.

Very rarely, , a woman may have a spontaneous pregnancy after a diagnosis of premature/early menopause.

Sometimes, premature/early menopause is diagnosed when a woman has sought help for fertility. If the ovaries fail to respond to the hormones used to produce eggs or if eggs fail to fertilise, these may be signs of premature/early menopause developing.

For a woman who has gone through premature/early menopause, depending on her circumstance her options for having children include:

    • a donor egg
    • surrogacy with a donor egg
    • adoption

To explore the best option for you, ask your doctor for a referral to a fertility specialist who is a member of one of the in vitro fertilisation clinics.

    Will I Have A Miscarriage

This can be especially scary if you have heard stories about the many women who do experience a miscarriage or have already had one in the past. The alarming statistic that 1 in 4 pregnancies are miscarried is definitely a scary thought.

However, the reason that this number is so high is because that is typically in the first couple of weeks when you first conceive and before you would even KNOW youre pregnant. Once you hear a heartbeat around 6-8 weeks, your chances of miscarrying drops dramatically to only 5%. This keeps getting lower as your pregnancy progresses.

The odds are in your favor that you will bring a perfectly healthy baby to term, so try not to stress that there is something that could go wrong. In the small chance that you do miscarry, there is a reason that fetus wasnt viable.

Typically, these babies would have had a chromosomal disorder or something that makes them unable to sustain life. A healthy baby who is strong enough to survive will make it through no problem!

Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage on our very first time conceiving. However, the doctors called this a chemical pregnancy which is one of those 1 in 4.

We were actively trying to get pregnant so I took a pregnancy test a few days before I would have even missed a period. It was only 3 days after I got a positive sign that I started bleeding.

Had I not taken the test so early, I wouldnt have even thought I got pregnant that month and just experienced a regular period .

    Symptoms With A Period

    Everything Looks Normal, Still Can

It is possible to be pregnant and get your period. This leads some women to hold onto hope that they may still be pregnant, even after Aunt Flo knocks at the door. Odds are, if you got your period, youre not pregnant. Feeling pregnant on your period could happen due to:

    • Normal hormonal fluctuations during menstruation
    • The flu or another illness
    • Fatigue or queasiness for other non-pregnancy reasons

Just like feeling pregnant before your period doesnt mean youre pregnant, feeling pregnant on your period also doesnt indicate youre expecting.

If your period is very different than your usual, then you may want to take a pregnancy test or call your doctor.

For example, you might consider taking a pregnancy test if your period is:

    • Abnormally light for you
    • More like spotting than a period
    • Much shorter than it usually is

There are non-pregnancy reasons to have an off period. Anything from stress to illness can cause one irregular menstrual cycle.

After a proper discussion, the couple got their basic fertility tests done as advised by Dr Priti.

Once the test results were revealed to be normal, Radha and Raghavan were advised few more advanced tests. The advanced fertility evaluation disclosed no cause of concerns and it was suspected to be a case of unexplained infertility.

Radha asked the doctor about unexplained infertility and whether they should be concerned.

Can Pregnancy Symptoms Come & Go

Did you have a few pregnancy symptoms but then they went away?

If you did have pregnancy symptoms in the first trimester and now they are gone this is cause for worry. You should seek medical attention to verify your babys well-being.

This is only applicable if you did have symptoms and then they disappeared during the first trimester.

Most women will note that they no longer have nausea or vomiting in the second trimester. This is normal. Your body has now regulated the hormones and the second trimester is a bit easier than the first trimester.

But if you did have pregnancy symptoms and NOW you do not make sure you go to your OB or call your midwife right away to be checked as this can be a sign of early miscarriage.

    Know When To Seek Help

    Is my period normal?

Both the woman and the man should consider having an infertility evaluation if the woman is 35 or older and has not become pregnant after six months of having sex regularly without using birth control, Pavone said.

Pavone also recommended that a woman who is under 35 and her partner should consult a fertility specialist if she hasn’t become pregnant after one year of having unprotected intercourse on a regular basis.
