Braxton Hicks contractions are common from here on out. Researchers still dont know what causes them, but many believe theyre your body gearing up for real labor. Important note: Braxton Hicks contractions dont increase in intensity as time passes, dont come at regular intervals and usually can be made better by moving around or drinking water. Another unexpected symptom may be when a hand or arm starts hurting. The fluid youre retaining can pinch a nerve in the wrist and cause carpal tunnel syndrome. This may require you to wear a splint and ice the area to give some relief until you give birth, when the pain goes away along with the excess fluid.

Things To Do In Your Last Month Of Pregnancy

Hitting that final month in your pregnancy is a milestone. Excitement, nerves, anxiety all kick into high gear with the realization that, after all these months of waiting, your baby will be here pretty darn soon. If the month of your due date has finally arrived, these are a few things to start doing in order to get yourself ready for B-Day… and none of them have anything to do with packing a hospital bag.

1. Practice Your Breathing

Hopefully youve been doing this for several weeks already but, if you havent, its time to get started!

  • Concentrate on taking slow, deep breaths. Inhale for four counts exhale for four counts. Breath in through your nose until you feel your belly rise and back out through your mouth. Channel your inner horse and let your lips flap together. Do me a favour and actually do this, okay? Then it wont feel so foreign when youre doing it IRL.

2. Relax Yo Face

Training your body to release and relax will benefit you big time when youve started the birth process. Why? Because coaxing your body into a state of relaxation is KEY to labour efficiently.

  • Several times a day, roll your shoulders back and pull your shoulder blades down and back. Let your arms hang like spaghetti noodles. Shake out your legs. Loosen your jaw and let your mouth gently hang. Visualize your entire face drooping as a result of being soooo relaxed.

Symptoms And Body Changes At 35 Weeks

You should have gained 2529 pounds by this thirty-fifth week. Your uterus is about six inches above your belly button, and your belly button may be sensitive to the touch. People probably want to touch or rub your belly at this point, as you look very much pregnant. Your baby should be moving to a head-down position in your pelvis region, which reduces pressure on your ribs, chest, and lungs, but increases pressure on your bladder. This will cause you to urinate more often, and can become quite annoying. Back pain, pelvic pain, and pelvic numbness can all occur. The numbness is due to pressure on your pelvic nerves. This can continue until the birth of your baby. Talk to your doctor if the discomfort becomes excessive.

What Do I Need To Know About Prenatal Care

Your healthcare provider will check your blood pressure and weight. You may also need the following:

  • A urine test may also be done to check for sugar and protein. These can be signs of gestational diabetes or infection. Protein in your urine may also be a sign of preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a condition that can develop during week 20 or later of your pregnancy. It causes high blood pressure, and it can cause problems with your kidneys and other organs.
  • A gestational diabetes screen may be done. Your healthcare provider may order either a 1-step or 2-step oral glucose tolerance test .
  • 1-step OGTT: Your blood sugar level will be tested after you have not eaten for 8 hours . You will then be given a glucose drink. Your level will be tested again 1 hour and 2 hours after you finish the drink.
  • 2-step OGTT: You do not have to fast for the first part of the test. You will have the glucose drink at any time of day. Your blood sugar level will be checked 1 hour later.     Itching In Pregnancy 35 Weeks

    Hello,Hope you don’t mind me asking for some advice here?My dsil is 35 weeks today and went for a midwife appointment this afternoon. She has been sent to the hospital as she has had itching all over, especially feet and arms, which gets worse at night.Has anyone had any experience of this?Many thanks

    I had a blood test at my last appointment for the same problem, as it can be a sign of cholestasis which effects the liver. I haven’t had my result yet but I imagine the hospital will offer your DSIL the same test. The doctor said it may also just be hormonal so try not to worry at this stage.

    Thanks very much – fingers crossed all is ok with my first little nephew Just had a text from db – they’ve taken bloods and popped her on the monitor while they wait for results.

    Hopefully all will be well! I have been in and out of hospital this whole pregnancy and will be induced early, and it is scary when things aren’t going quite to plan so will keep my fingers crossed for your sil.
