Going To The Chiropractor While Pregnant | Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy | My Visit at 37 Weeks

Yeast infections arent particularly dangerous to you or your unborn child. They are mostly just uncomfortable. If youre experiencing heavy, white discharge or itching around the vagina, you should see your doctor. While a yeast infection may be no big deal , symptoms of a yeast infection are similar to those of bacterial vaginosis and other sexually transmitted infections. Its best to have a doctor do an exam, just to make sure.

When Can You Go To Urgent Care While Pregnant

Whether youre expecting your first child or your third, pregnancy can make you feel a bit, well, delicate. Every cramp, fever, or chill may put you on high alert. The reality is that many pregnant women head to the ER for non-emergency situations. In fact, research done on the overcrowding of emergency rooms found that less than 3% of ER visits required vital intervention. Essentially, this means that the majority of people including pregnant women can be treated at urgent care, instead of the emergency room.

Thats not to say you shouldnt go to the ER for serious symptoms during pregnancy but knowing where to go and when can save you time, money, and a lot of hassle. Heres an overview of when a pregnant woman should go to urgent care during each trimester of pregnancy.

Reduce Your Caffeine Intake

Research shows that consuming too much caffeine while you are trying to conceive can increase the risk of miscarriage. The research shows that this applies to both women and men. Too much caffeine in pregnancy has also been shown to be harmful to the developing baby.

If youre planning to conceive, you and your partner should consider limiting your caffeine intake to 200mg a day.

Can You Get A Blood Test During Pregnancy

You may choose to have tests during pregnancy which can help to detect if your baby may have this condition. This will either be a blood test or a combined blood test and scan. Youll usually be able to get the results at your next clinic visit. Occasionally technical problems can occur and youll be asked to have another sample taken.

When Should I Test

Home pregnancy tests can be very accurate , especially if you wait to test until after your period is officially late. Some tests claim to accurately detect pregnancy up to a week before your missed period, so if youâre experiencing some pregnancy symptoms and are champing at the bit, go for it.

Youâre more likely to get an accurate test result if you wait until your period is late, according to the Mayo Clinic, because the hormone thatâs detected in home pregnancy tests, hCG, doubles every two to three days after an embryo attaches to your uterus, meaning thereâs more to detect in your urine if you wait a few days.

Because this hormone can sometimes take a while to build up, false negative results arenât uncommon in early pregnancy. Itâs much more rare to get a false positive. If you get a positive test result, you are very likely pregnant, or experienced a recent pregnancy loss, and can confirm the pregnancy through a blood test or ultrasound.

Urgent Care In Early Pregnancy

I started spotting today, no cramps, but I feel like I should get it checked out cause this is what happened when I had a miscarriage before. It’s not major spotting, but it worries me. I’m about 8/9 weeks.

If I go to urgent care, will they have a Doppler/sonogram machine, or would that depend on the facility? I’d rather not go wait in the ER if I don’t have to.

Thanks

I doubt they’d have an ultrasound machine. You may just need to go to the ER, or call your doctor and see if they can squeeze you in first thing in the morning.

I would call dr. If I went to ER with my ins it would cost me 125 co pay. If I called dr, and he had me come into the labor unit to get checked out it wouldnt cost me…

I don’t think they do. I personally think your safest move is to go to the hospital

L& D won’t see you until 20 weeks.

Then I would personally just go to the ER.

Benefits Of An Urgent Care Facility

On average, a visit to an urgent care facility costs around $50 to $150. This will depend on your co-pay and level of treatment. ER costs can be higher depending on your insurance plan and the services you need.

If your condition is not life-threatening, the emergency room can have longer wait times. Many urgent care facilities will offer a website check-in option so you can wait from home for minor illness or injuries. In most cases, you can get in and out of an urgent care within 45 minutes to an hour.

Because emergency rooms typically treat those with life-threatening conditions, the average wait time for a visit to a hospital emergency room with a minor injury or illness is 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Using Ovulation Test Kits

Ovulation predictor kits are available from chemists and are fairly simple to use. They work by detecting a hormone in your urine that increases when ovulation is about to take place.

The simplest ovulation test kits check for luteinising hormone , which surges 24-36 hours before ovulation. This will help to identify the best two days for conception, although a woman can be fertile for a day or so before and after this time.

It is best to become familiar with your usual menstrual cycle to help figure out when you should start testing. If you have an irregular cycle then an ovulation predictor kit can help you identify the time of ovulation, but expect to use more of the test strips.

When To See A Doctor For Spotting During Pregnancy: Light Bleeding

URGENT CARE on Vacation

Pregnant women are constantly being told things to worry about while being pregnant. For that reason, we do want to stress that not all bleeding during pregnancy is a sign of an emergency. In other words, the answer to the question, Should I go to the ER for bleeding during pregnancy? is not always yes.

There are many cases when light bleeding during pregnancy is perfectly normal. These include:

  • Egg implantation: When an egg becomes fertilized, it implants into the lining of your uterine wall. Light bleeding may occur after implantation, typically right before or around the same time as when you would expect your period.
  • Hormone changes: Your body experiences a lot of hormonal changes during pregnancy. Some of these changes may light to heavy bleeding .
  • Bleeding after cervical irritation: Blood flow increases to your cervix during pregnancy, and hormonal shifts can also make your cervical lining more sensitive. Both of these changes make it more likely that you may experience bleeding after cervical irritation caused by sex or even a vaginal ultrasound.

The bleeding caused by the aforementioned cases will likely be brown and should not be heavy. If you experience light bleeding or spotting for less than 24 hours, this is likely not an emergency. We recommend that you tell your OB-GYN about this bleeding during your next prenatal appointment or, if you are worried, give them a call.

Identify Your Fertile Window And Start Tracking Ovulation

Your fertile window usually occurs mid-cycle and is the time period in which your chances of getting pregnant are at their highest. During this window, ovulation when an egg is released from an ovary occurs. Once this happens, conception is possible.

Tracking your cycle helps set you up for success by narrowing down your fertile window. But the next step to further improve your chances of getting pregnant is identifying when youre ovulating. Since conception cant happen until an egg is released, knowing your ovulation window helps you better time sex.

From monitoring your cervical mucus and basal body temperature, to ovulation predictor kits, there are several methods to help figure out your most fertile days.
