How Do Doctors Calculate Pregnancy Week

which week is which month in pregnancy | pregnancy weeks to months calculator

Although the LMP method of due date calculation is widely accepted, doctors sometimes estimate the pregnancy week by alternate means to determine the actual foetal age. This is particularly useful for women who have been experiencing irregular periods and do not remember their last menstrual cycle date. One of the following two methods is followed to assess the age of the foetus.

Weeks Pregnant: Your Babys Development

Now that you are 31 weeks pregnant, it’s good to know what’s going on with your baby’s development inside the womb. Most of your babyâs bones are hardening, but the bones on her skull remain soft and flexible, making it easier for her to pass through the birth canal when the time comes. At birth, your baby will have soft spots on her skull, called fontanelles: One will close a few months after your baby is born, while the other will close at about 18 months of age or later. More developments inside the womb at 31 weeks pregnant: Your little oneâs brain is maturing rapidly. As a result, your baby may start to regulate her own body temperature, meaning sheâs no longer entirely reliant on the amniotic fluid for warmth.Youâre not the only one who may have frequent urination! Your baby is swallowing amniotic fluid and peeing several cups back out each day. When To See A Doctor

As your due date gets closer, you can expect more frequent visits with a midwife or OB-GYN.

During your visits, the medical professional will monitor your health and the health of the baby. They may take your weight and blood pressure, measure your bump, and listen to the babys heartbeat.

You should contact a doctor right away if:

  • you notice vaginal bleeding or any signs of infection
  • you experience frequent contractions or other signs of early labor
  • you experience severe vomiting or diarrhea
  • you have signs of preeclampsia

What Should I Be Feeling At 31 Weeks Pregnant

  • You may be feeling like your organs have all been displaced, and as a matter of fact, youre right! With babys growth going into overdrive, it will be a relief to get some of that breathing room back as they begin the process of repositioning for birth. You may feel shortness of breath, which is nothing to worry about unless it gets severe . If youre feeling winded, sit or rest until it subsides. By birth, the pressure on your lungs and organs will dissipate, so you can breathe a sigh of relief
  • At this point, walking has become waddling, youll have swelling in your legs and feet , and sleeping may become increasingly difficult. While its going to be a little uncomfortable for the next couple of months, in nine weeks youll have a new love in your life!
  • With that in mind, if you experience sudden facial or hand swelling, call your healthcare provider immediately, as it could be an indicator of something more serious. Facial swelling, changes in vision, and headaches could be a sign of something called preeclampsia.

How A Baby Responds To Sex

can have an interesting effect on babies in the womb, as you may have noticed. Some are very quiet after their parents have sex rocked to sleep by the rhythmic movement, perhaps while others become frisky themselves .

Both responses are completely normal and in no way indicate that your baby is aware of the goings-on…just that he’s having fun going along for the ride.

So keep on enjoying your sex life as much as you like and for as long as you can which, with your practitioner’s approval and a few advanced Twister-type moves, can be right up until delivery day. Pretty soon, jumping into bed together with a baby in the house won’t be quite so easy or convenient.

How To Calculate In Weeks

To calculate how many weeks you are, start by taking note of the first day of your last period on a calendar, or your LMD . Every 7 days from that first day counts as 1 week in your pregnancy.

For example, if the first day of the last period was March 11 and you recently had a positive pregnancy test, your first day of pregnancy is March 11 . If March 11 was day 1, then March 18 will mark week 1 of your pregnancy. April 16, for example is calculated as 1 week and 1 day of your pregnancy, and you will have been in your second month.

Calculation is done this way because the exact fertilization day is difficult to determine. Sperm cells can survive in the woman’s body for up to 7 days, and can fertilize the egg and initiate the pregnancy on any of these days.

First Trimester Weight Gain

Your baby is still tiny, which means you may not need to gain more than a total of 2 to 4 pounds. If you’re suffering from morning sickness, you might gain less than that or even lose a little. Thats okay, and you can make up for those pounds over the following six months.

On the other hand, if you have strong pregnancy cravings, you may gain a little more during the first trimester. In any case, your practitioner will help you come up with a plan for the next two.

Weeks Is How Many Months

Pregnancy Weeks To Months Calendar

Been going back and forth with my voyfriend on this topic…. whats your opinion / thoughts. Here are some charts i pulled off an app and online.

Its the beginning of your 8 month

so would you say “im 8 month’s pregnant” would that be correct….

Im 31 weeks and due exactly 2 months from yesterday. Ive been saying Im 7 months pregnant. I dont feel right about saying Im 9 months pregnant for a month

but you would be 9 months pregnant for a month because technically pregnancy is 10 months long

Ive heard that its ten months but I still cant figure that out? Unless people mean it spans over 10 of 12 calendar months? My Lmp was dec 10, due sept 13- thats only 9 months and 3 days! But I am pregnant in ten months of the year? I still think its 9 months total …. give or take a few days

40 weeks is not 10 months!

I would say I am in the 8th month

no, you would say that youre 7 months pregnant. Youre in your 8th month meaning you havent completed month 8 yet.

I am due the end of September, so Im tracking my month changes at the end of each month. I would say, at the end of July, that I am 7 months, the end of August 8 months, then the end of September , 9 months.

I say Im 7 but its conflicting when I google

I say 7 months because I dont need to explain to every person about how technically you count from your last missed period. Im due Sept 10, so it makes sense to say I have 2 months to go.

in your 8th month7 months pregnant

Women who are planning to have a child expect their pregnancy to last about nine months. But many expectant fathers and mothers wonder how many weeks there are in nine months. The average pregnancy lasts forty weeks from the first day of the last normal menstrual period.

To get a more specific prediction of pregnancy duration, most physicians and midwives use a gestation calculation like the one below to provide a personalized estimate. You can use the first date of your last period or the date of conception if you know it.

Isn’t A Month Four Weeks Long

Actually, in a typical year, February is the only month that’s four weeks long. All others are either 30 or 31 days. On average, a month is 4.3 weeks, so that means the number of weeks and months of pregnancy don’t match up exactly. And that’s why some months in the chart are four weeks long and some are five weeks long.

Baby Movement At 8 Months Pregnant

My Friend Babymoon Recap | 31 Weeks Pregnant

You may find that you feel less frequent movement from your baby, since your little one now fills more of your uterus and has less room to stretch out. This may be stressful if youre used to feeling these movements! But baby shouldnt actually be moving less.

The movements you do feel can be more painful as the baby stretches against your ribs and organs. These movements are now so strong they may be visible on the outside!

If you are worried about the types of movements youre feeling , chat with your doctor. They may suggest a modified schedule of kick counts or perform some diagnostic exams to put your mind at ease.
